Stronger Everyday and never quits!
How did you get started in CrossFit?
I got started by watching my parents at different competitions. They would constantly be telling that it was fun and great and I just wasn’t too sure. I went to a couple of Saturday classes and what hooked me was how encouraging everyone was and what a tight knit family they were. So I wanted to be a part of that and better myself along with my friends.
My favorite movement has to be back squats. I can feel super strong doing them and I just recently got my 200# one so I’m excited to see how much farther I can take it.
Least favorite would have to be wall balls. I can’t breathe during them, I get smacked in the face with the ball, and I feel I lose a little piece of my soul every missed target.
My biggest accomplishment… hm. Honestly, the fact that I’m still doing it. Of course I get super excited every PR that I hit or when I can do a new movement finally after trying for a long time, but the fact that I continue to come in and push makes me really proud. I’m not the strongest or the fastest but I’m still working hard and that’s what I can be proud of.
Oh my gosh, what’s not to love about AKP?? Honestly, I love the people. Jana, when we get to do lifts together and clown around with each other and have fun while working hard is always a blast. I really loved during the Open, after the workouts on Friday nights we would all just sit together and talk and be a family, laughing and telling stories. I love this place more than I can express in just a few sentences.
Hmm. Well y’all know I like to read already. I love to sing! Honestly my dream job would be to sing for Disney and I sort of did that with my high school choir when we did the candle light service for their Christmas show in 2011. Although, thanks to a whole day before of riding roller-coasters, I had no voice and had to lip sync the whole thing.
